Exposure to high levels of lead may cause health risks to the consumer

Asharqia Chamber presents you with its best regards and informs you that it has received the letter of the Federation of Saudi Chambers No. (43103733) dated (24/8/1443 AH), regarding the Federation’s receipt of the letter of the Food and Drug General Authority No. (21325/p) and dated (18/8/1443 AH), regarding the system Cosmetic products issued by Royal Decree No. (M / 49), dated (18/6/1436 AH), Samples of eye care products traded in the local markets were collected and analyzed to ensure their safety. The results of the analysis showed that they contain two eye care products, the first one bears the name "The Kohl of the Black Antimony Experts AL-ETHMED Eyeliner" and the second product is the name "The Kohl of the Black Antimony Experts” AL-ETHMED EYELINER AL-ETHMED EYELINER Containing a high percentage of lead that exceeded the permissible limit as an impurity in the Regulation of Safety Requirements in Cosmetics and Personal Care No. (SFDA.CO/GSO1943:2016). Since exposure to high levels of lead may cause health risks to the consumer, the authority requested to confirm all Establishments that engage in the activity of trading cosmetic products prevent the sale of the products described in their data and return them to their suppliers, and importers and distributors of the products must withdraw them from sales outlets and warehouses, and coordinate with the Authority - Operations Sector - to destroy it to avoid penalties being imposed on them.
